Golden SandsGolden Sands is the second biggest holiday resort in Bulgaria, located only about 7-8 miles north of Varna and about 10 miles from Varna airport, with low cost flights from Gatwick and Luton airports. The resort engulfs several other smaller resorts stretching north from Varna into a mega holiday area starting from the northern suburbs of Varna - Vinica and including the resorts of Zurnalist, St. St. Constantine & Elena and the fishing village of Kranevo. Golden Sands enjoys over 3 miles of “golden” sand beaches and has managed to retain most of its original “green” image. Even the central part of the resort has green parks that stretches for miles inland. The resort was developed in the 60s and has emerged as the “posh” holiday place for Bulgarians and the preferred location for seminars, congresses and festivals during the summer. Property prices in Golden Sands as well as the whole northern coast are traditionally higher than the southern coast. Since the resort retained and sustained lower density of development, there are very few plots of land available for development. The local authority in an attempt to escape the problems of Sunny Beach, has decided in 2006 that no new building permissions will be issued within the resort. Property prices in Golden Sands range between €800/sq.m. to €1,500/sq.m. Golden Sands benefits from the strong economy of Varna that attracts business and human resources and which surpassed the capital Sofia in terms of property prices. |
